Annie Sloan is the name of a woman who invented a unique type of paint back in 1990. This paint, which is known as chalk paint, earned its name because of its beautiful matte finish that is somewhat “chalky” looking.

Originally, the paint only came in one color, which was a subtle, off-white shade. However, over the years, more and more colors have been introduced to the line. The following section takes a closer look at some of the most beautiful Annie Sloan colors 2016 has to offer:

Whites and Beiges – For a shabby chic or clean look, choosing a white or beige shade of paint is ideal. Fortunately, there are quite a few different light colored shades to choose from, including Pure, which is a pure, bright white, Original, which was the first color of chalk paint ever on the market, Old White, which is a slightly softer shade of white, cream, which is a warm cream color and Old Ochre, which is a slightly darker and richer cream shade.

Reds – For a bold, colorful look, nothing beats red paint. Some of the shades that are available include Burgundy, which is a rich, dark red shade, Emperor’s Red, which is an ultra-saturated, bright red color, and Primer Red, which is a medium-toned, saturated red hue.

Pinks – Pink symbolizes femininity, and is the perfect way to add a soft touch to a room. Some of the pink colors in the line include Antoinette, which is a pale, bubblegum pink hue, and Scandinavian Pink, which is almost a coral color.

Purples – There are four purple shades in the line, three of which are quite similar to one another. Emile, Henrietta and Paloma are all shades of lavender that vary slightly in saturation and undertone. Violet, on the other hand, is more of a bluish-purple color that resembles periwinkle when applied to furniture.

Blues – There are a number of different blue tones to choose from, ranging from the highly saturated Napoleonic Blue, to the soft and subtle Duck Egg Blue. Greek Blue and Louis Blue are  both cool blue shades, while Provence and Aubusson  Blue both lean more toward turquoise.

Greens – The green shades in the line are perhaps the most varied. Olive and Versailles are both soft, muted shades of green, while Antibes Green is a brilliant shade of bright green. Florence, with its rich teal color, falls somewhere between blue and green.

Grays – Gray shades are perfect for adding class and sophistication to your space. You can opt for a light shade of gray such as Country Gray, Coco, Paris or French Linen, or go dramatic with the deep tones of Graphite.

Yellows and Oranges – Finally, the warm tones of yellow and orange are also beautifully represented in the line. English Yellow is a bright, saturated yellow, while Arles is more of a muted ochre shade. Barcelona Orange is an eye-catching shade of bright orange that is hard to miss.

These are the basic Annie Sloan colors 2016 has to offer.
